COVID-19 fatalities rose rapidly in China. To contain the spread of the disease, on January 23, 2020, China put 15 cities, including Wuhan in the Hubei province, under complete lockdown. No one was allowed to leave or enter these cities. The lockdown affected more than 50 million people. People were expected to follow strict social distancing norms.
